# Welcome to the C-MOOR Academy Discussion Forum!

**Note: If you are an instructor, please let someone from C-MOOR know so you can be added to the Instructor Hub** , which has its own introductory guidelines and instructions. These instructions are geared towards students.

### Create an introductory post

**Create this post in either this general category or your class specific category (if applicable):**

- Your name
- Your institution
- 1-2 things from the list below:
  - Your major
  - Any previous research experience
  - A hobby of yours
  - Something you’re looking forward to learning
  - Why you’re interested in biology and/or research
  - Something you saw recently that made you feel curious

### Check your notification preferences.

By default we’ve set you to receive emails whenever a new topic is posted in the following categories, and you will also receive an email when someone @you or replies to you.

- Announcements
- Your class group (if applicable)
- Your C-MOOR Scholars group (if applicable)

You will also receive a summary email of new activity from popular topics every hour.

**To change your notification preferences,** enter your preferences settings by clicking on your icon in the top right corner of the screen, then clicking the image of the person and selecting preferences (gear icon).

**To change the frequency of emails,** go to preferences \> emails.

**To change what topics you want to get emails about,** go to preferences \> tracking
