Relation between Cardiovascular Disorders and the ANCE gene in Drosophila Midgut—Poster by Briana Logan, Adriana Fontanez, Taylor Resweber Bio11A S2

What I Did
The ANCE gene was first intriguing because we were curious to find the genetic relations to cardiovascular disorders. After learning about the ACE and its role as a fluid balance in humans through the renin-angiotensin system, we further researched the ANCE gene in Drosophila flies. My research poster looks into finding patterns that relate to human cardiovascular functions.

How you can help
There are many ways of researching this gene via data analysis. While I can’t say there is a direct link there is a strong correlation. Further experimenting and deep dive research on this specific gene will better show the gene expression and how it correlates and works together within the body acting as a regulator. There is always room for expansion and improvement within research, so by continuing to develop this idea would be a great help.
