Transcriptomic Investigation of Stress Response and Longevity Regulation by dCYLD in Drosophilia melanogaster

Q1. What is an example of a challenge that you had to overcome during this research project?

One challenge we faced during this research project was adapting to conducting the experiment in a fully digital format. All members of our group are kinesthetic learners, learning best through hands-on, physical engagement with materials and procedures. Because of this, not being able to perform the experiment in a more practical, lab-based setting made it more difficult for us to fully engage with the process at first. Additionally, having to rely entirely on digital resources for data collection required us to adjust our usual approach to learning and collaboration. Over time, however, we adapted by being more intentional in how we interpreted digital data and divided tasks to stay organized and efficient.

Q2. What was your favorite part about doing the research project and why?

Our favorite part of the research project was the group dynamic we were able to build. Working together created a comfortable and supportive environment for all of us, which made the overall experience much more enjoyable. Because we were able to communicate openly and collaborate effectively, it was easier to share ideas, divide tasks, and stay engaged throughout the project. This sense of comfort and teamwork helped us stay motivated and made the research process feel more collaborative rather than stressful.
